Side dish - Spiced Steamed Rice

(enough rice for 3-4 serves)


  • 1 cup Basmati or Jasmine rice
  • 2 teaspoons Screaming Seeds  'GARAM  MASALA'
  • 1 teaspoon Sea Salt


  1. Place 1 cup rice in a saucepan that has a good sealed lid;
  2. Add water to the rice, swishing around to get rid of excess starch ... then drain the cloudy water;
  3. Do this 2-3 times;
  4. On 4th time, add 3 cups water to the rice;
  5. Sprinkle in 'GARAM MASALA' & sea salt & mix. Place the lid;
  6. Bring rice to boil then turn heat down to low-medium - keeping the lid on at all times;
  7. Rice should be cooked within 10 minutes for fluffy white rice.

Rice will be cooked to a delicious fluffiness with a subtle hint of 'Garam Masala' ...YUMM! This easy recipe takes the mystery away of perfectly cooked rice.

....  For this recipe, if I don't have  'Garam Masala'  in my pantry, what other SCREAMING SEEDS spice blend could I use instead?
